Young woman spends a summer with her grandmother. When three generations of women collide, it is not always pretty. In Georgia Rule , Lindsay Lohan (Mean Girls ) plays the role of Rachel, a wild child whose mother Lilly (Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives ) His vessels outside Idaho to be tamed by Georgia (Jane Fonda, On Golden Pond ) - Lilly's own mother cantankerous. There, 17 years, Rachel shocks the conservative community with her shorts, eager sexuality (which she plies on everyone from 12 year old boys to unsophisticated, but hot, Mormon neighbors), and stories of possible sexual abuse at the hands of his stepfather, a low viscosity (Cary Elwes, The Princess Bride ). As directed by Garry Marshall (Beaches , Pretty Woman ), Georgia Rule is a flawed chick movie where women are tolerated but not particularly friendly . The characters we want to know more about the peripheral it is not enough - the men. Simon (Dermot Mulroney), good (and sexy) veterinarian who was once madly in love with Lilly, in many ways is a moral compass of the film. A widower whose wife and son died tragically in an accident, Simon would have made a film about more convincing than these women. And for all his latent pining for Lilly, the viewer feels relieved for him that dodged a bullet by not marrying into this dysfunctional family. While women are not quite believable as mother, daughter, grandmother, they all have moments in the film that saved him from moaning mess. While Lohan does not have the charm she displayed in Mean Girls , it has over its own coins with the stage-driving Fonda is very good to chew the scenery. -

See the recent Georgia Rule, I flashed back on a passage FRANNY Salinger and Zooey (I recently reread ). There is a passage in the book in which a young actor, speaks disparagingly of scripts which are “courageous”, without necessarily being particularly good. What he speaks, of course, is the kind of drama that is supposed to be risky and difficult, a little eccentric, perhaps. “Edgy” could be the current word. This is precisely the kind of dramatic Georgia Rule tries to be. You can imagine the filmmakers patting themselves (and other) on the back, congratulate themselves on their openness and courage.
It’s a film that means so much – To boldly go where no writer (or director or producer) would have dared to do before (except that they have, in fact). You have your generational conflict, intergenerational your addiction, you promiscuous teenagers – and apparently incestuous step dads. You salty grannies, moms anxious and fearful, but courageous teenagers. Even if you have not seen all these ingredients together before, it is difficult not to see Georgia Rule somewhat artificial and quite desperate. He nearly breaks under the strain.
The comments for this movie have not been kind, and it seems likely that whatever the reputation it may have attracted perhaps more to do with Lindsay Lohan reported bad behavior on the set of the intrinsic quality of the film. As it turns out, she would probably have all pleaded “Method” and said it was just staying in character off-camera. Her Rachel is a bit of a scoundrel. With a heart of gold, of course.
It’s a film that practically invites reviewers to say something about a grumpy drift distribution of stars in a lame production. Well, it’s a very strong distribution, and all actors have their moments. Felicity Huffman and Lindsay Lohan have some very strong scenes – and others where the script or director (or their best instincts) dropping. Jane Fonda is probably the most consistent of the three actresses in the spotlight, but who may have much to do with his character of flint, a natural sense of discipline for discipline. It can coast a little on the oddities of his character. Huffman and Lindsay Lohan are required to take more risks. Sometimes they take off, and sometimes they fall flat (literally in the case of Huffman).
Georgia Rule, while not particularly good, could prove instructive for those involved in grass. It is true that we see good actors at work (and I mean hard at work). What you do not get a good solid story. In 2007, it is sufficient to present to viewers dysfunction between generations does not cut any more – if it ever did. Yes, we know that happy families are all alike, and that unhappy families are unhappy in a unique and different. If this is true, however, you should not have to struggle so much to show these differences. Georgia Rule # 1 would probably have been: Do not try so hard!

Although I do not remember this film excellent reviews from critics, I was expecting at least an honorable film based on the three main protagonists. I was more than expected. The three lead actresses were well chosen. Jane Fonda, looking exceptionally well at age 70, is underway at the grandmother, Georgia, who lives his life by certain “rules”, hence the title, and who has an affair with his daughter, Lilly (Felicity Huffman), who seems to lack emotion. “Seems” is the watchword. Although we are not aware of exactly what caused the rift between mother and daughter, we glean a particular scene that Georgia’s parents told him that loved him. We infer that the apparent failure of Georgia to say three words, “I love you” to her daughter may be just because she did not say what she needed to hear his parents. In a touching scene between Georgia and Lilly when Lilly asks her mother if she has ever loved, Georgia replies: “How could I not love you? It is still not able to say those three magic words to her daughter if she has no difficulty in saying to his granddaughter, Rachel (Lindsay Lohan). Dermont Mulroney is wonderfully cast as the kindly veterinarian working with Rachel and Cary Elwes and cast in a show a little colder than his step-father of Rachel.
Rachel, handle, has a history of abuse drugs and all sorts of problems among adolescents. There are, of course, a reason for his behavior and below all, we see many glimpses of a tender heart.
This is the best performance of Ms. Lohan since she debuted wonderful that identical twins in The Parent Trap ‘at the age of eleven. Despite the two other big names of stars, Lindsay Lohan is the star of this movie. We can only hope that this talented young lady is able to heal before a promising career is ruined.

” Georgia Rule “is a film at random, and I do not really know what to make of him at first. For a while, it seems that the premise of the film is that 17-year-old Rachel (Lindsay Lohan) is a major pain in the ass of his mother, Lilly (Felicity Huffman) and is sent to live with his grandmother mother, Georgia (Jane Fonda), a small town in Idaho as a sort of punishment. Rachel has to obtain an increase in the small town residents, especially men. Approximately one third of the way through the film, however, he revealed that Rachel had been sexually abused by her stepfather beginning when she was 12 years. The film deals with three women coming to terms with the mother-daughter pairs and determine how to move forward with their lives.
I liked “Georgia Rule” more as the film progresses. At first, I was ready to write off as a complete failure, but it surprised me actually have some depth. I was impressed by the emotional performance Huffman, and Lohan and Fonda although both did a decent job in their roles, I was much impressed by their work in other films. Overall, “Georgia Rule” is not a waste of time, but you should not get out of your way to see.

If something is” Georgia Rule “is displayed was the performance of these three actors. So what’s the story?
Rachel (Lindsay Lohan) comes to live with her grandmother Georgia (Jane Fonda) in Idaho. Seems Rachel is distraught between high school and college.
Rachel is also a handful. While Georgia has more rules of the House of a settlement “Roberts of order,” but it does not appear that contains Rachel behavior management at all. She is rude, uses foul language, and is cloudy.
It was also abused by her stepfather. Or is it? A note next to Simon (Mulroney) to the vet city. Of course, “said Simon, Georgia, says the mother of Rachel (Felicity Huffman). Arnold (Cary Elwes) stepfather is the perfect lawyer for the California criminal oily. It seems so sincere – and yet …
Hence, we sit by trauma after trauma, that we wonder if Rachel is lying – and if not, his mother will get a clue? “Georgia Rule” is a strong showing, especially near the holidays when some of of us are not particularly looking forward to our own family dramas. Fonda, Huffman, Mulroney and Elwes all gave great performances and I think the four of them were kept in what concerns me.
Do not buy this movie. I suggest renting cheap one day. If you really like one of the cast members and collect their work, then buy it. “Georgia Rule” is certainly a view once for me.

In an industry that increasingly distorts its products via trailers preview, this is the most frightening example I ‘ ‘ve ever seen. Have you seen the trailer? You expect a slight especially “troubled daughter puts his life on track with the guidance of his grandfather, sassy” movie, think again.
I spoil a development parcel of approximately 20 minutes while do not read further if you do not know.
* * Georgia Rule is a tale of molestation heavy, Lohan plays a dangerous and unpleasant “I’m telling the truth or lie? “blaming game (and then retracted, then accusing him, then retracted) his stepfather abused her when she was 12-14, three years ago.
These stories have a place and probably some open communication in families in difficulty. However, it establishes a very uneven balance between comedy and drama thanks to director Garry Marshall incorrect view. alcoholism of a parent, abuse a daughter and subsequent slide into drug use and sexual promiscuity can be juxtaposed with the Fourth of July Pie-eating contests (of course featuring cameos by offering endless Marshall family) and lower in the wacky hijinx local veterinarian.
The acting is good, but the script and direction are very, very, very bad. The script began around Hollywood for a decade, it should still be collecting the dust on a bookshelf overlooked.
